The other day, we were at my family's house for a birthday party. Sweetpea was served a cupcake and proceeded to smash it into her mouth...area. She emerged with a little frosting beard and mustache. Everyone started laughing and she was loving it. She did it again just to get the laughs. She was cracking up as well.
As I watched, I was reminded of a memory that, for whatever reason, has always been a part of me. It's the memory of the moment that I first realized that I was funny. Or that I wanted to be funny. I was a little boy, maybe 4 or 5. I'm the youngest of four siblings and we were all sitting around the breakfast table. I did something funny with my toast and they all laughed. A switch was turned on that day and I've been clowning it up ever since. Any of you who have met me know that I'm a clown.
I was so happy to see my daughter having such a good time like I remember having. I hope that her moment of laughter is a memory she will hold.
